There is nothing more terrifying than the thought of being completely abandoned by God. This is a fear that can plague Christians at various times in our lives. When we’re suffering, God can feel distant and silent. When we sin, satan takes the guilt and shame and whispers “God is certainly through with you now. You’ve run out of chances”. Psalm 22 teaches that When trouble is near, God can feel far, but Jesus was forsaken so that you never will be.
